Vincent Hsu (徐崇育) är en prisbelönt basist, kompositör och musikpedagog från Kaohsiung i Taiwan. Han växte upp med taiwanesiska rötter och flyttade 2002 till New York City för att studera bas för jazzlegenden Cecil McBee – en avgörande upplevelse som kom att prägla honom varaktigt. Han tog en masterexamen i Jazz Performance vid New York University; utöver McBee räknar han Andy González, Jerry González, Victor Venegas och Luis Perdomo som sina mentorer.
Hans musikaliska stil förenar jazz och afrokubansk musik med hans taiwanesiska rötter. Tillsammans med sitt band „Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band" och „Jazz Supreme Orchestra" har han uppträtt på internationella scener, bland annat Taichung Jazz Festival och Tainan Jazz Festival. År 2024 genomförde han en USA-turné där även NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison medverkade.
Hans album *Music for the River Jazz Suite: The Spirit of Love River & Mississippi River* (Truth Revolution Records, oktober 2023) fick fyra stjärnor av *DownBeat Magazine* och utsågs till Editors' Pick 2023. Verket knyter samman Love River i hans hemstad Kaohsiung med Mississippi River.
I dag bor och arbetar Hsu i Taiwan, är Director of Jazz & Afro-Cuban Orchestra vid National Taiwan University of Arts och har sedan 2018 varit kurator för Summer Jazz Party i Taiwan National Theater and Concert Hall.
