Brudis Mallorca

Brudis Mallorca sits on Carrer de Miquel Pellisa in Les Meravelles, one of the densely built stretches of the Platja de Palma, and calls itself a Restaurant & Lounge. The double name is not a flourish but a description of how the house is divided: there is a fully worked-out food menu with starters, pasta and main courses, and alongside it a separate drinks list and a separate shisha list. The house opened in 2023. The kitchen cannot be pinned to one national cuisine, and it does not try to be. It opens Spanish, with pan con alioli, pimientos de Padrón and gambas al ajillo, moves on through Italian pasta and a beef carpaccio with rocket, parmesan, pine nuts and freshly grated truffle, and lands at main courses in which US beef takes the lead. In between sit Central European classics and Asian accents: edamame with sea salt, a duck breast with Asian rice and teriyaki, prawns in sweet chilli sauce. What stands out is how the house treats side dishes and sauces. Both have a section of their own on the menu: coleslaw, chips, sweet potato fries, potato gratin, rosemary potatoes and grilled vegetables on one side, seven sauces from alioli through mango alioli to truffle mayonnaise on the other. If you want to, you build your own plate instead of ordering a finished arrangement. What Brudis Mallorca puts on the table The largest thing on the menu is a T-bone steak, which the menu expressly recommends for sharing and which arrives with mashed potato and grilled vegetables. Next to it stand a US fillet of beef with potato gratin, a beef tartare and a tuna tartare. The second strand of the menu is distinctly Central European: the escalope is a Wiener Schnitzel and comes with homemade potato salad and cranberries, and the same berries turn up a second time in the Brudi's Burger, between beef, romaine lettuce hearts, pickled gherkins and tomato. That small repetition is telling: the menu sounds international but carries a German-speaking hand it does not hide. With the pasta you choose between spaghetti and penne. The version with black truffle and burrata stands out; beside it are beef strips with cherry tomatoes and spinach, salmon with tomato pesto, chicken breast in an orange and chilli sauce, and a vegetarian lemon pasta. From the fish side there is a salmon fillet and a sole. Among the starters, the bruschetta the house calls cuádruple is worth knowing: serrano ham, tomato concassé, pesto and tomato pesto on one plate. Vegetarian, for children and for long evenings Vegetarian cooking here goes beyond the obligatory. Alongside the lemon pasta the menu carries a veggie burger of red beans with caramelised onion and guacamole, courgette cannelloni as a main course in its own right, a quinoa salad with avocado and soy dressing, and a melon salad with burrata. For children there is a short section of its own. Cocktails and shisha are no footnote here; each has a list of its own next to the food menu. The lounge half of the name means exactly that: the evening does not have to end with dessert. The desserts stay with the same logic, sitting between kitchens. There is a crema catalana, a molten chocolate cake with strawberries, a cheeseboard with fig mustard, and a pistachio cheesecake that carries the house name. With every dessert you choose from the homemade ice creams and sorbets: black vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or pistachio. The setting between beach and motorway The address lies a good half kilometre inland from the seafront promenade, in the grid of streets behind the Platja de Palma. Administratively this is Palma, but it has little to do with the old town: it is roughly ten kilometres west to the cathedral. The neighbourhood is densely packed with places to eat, and Brudis stands out within it through the combination, a kitchen that wants to be taken seriously in the evening inside a house that is also a bar and a shisha lounge. The house runs its website in German, English and Spanish, and reservations go through its own messaging channel, which the site links to. Anyone who wants a table for certain uses it rather than turning up on the off chance.
