Description

Cala Figuera is an unspoilt rocky cove in the north of Mallorca, reached via an unmade path from the roadside.

The Cove

The turquoise water at Cala Figuera is crystal clear and home to plenty of fish. The shore is rocky and pebbly — there is no sandy beach. There is no shade and no facilities on site. Wild goats roam the beach area and take a keen interest in anything edible, so keep snacks and rucksacks well secured.

Getting Down & Getting There

From the road, an unsigned, unmade and fairly steep path leads down to the cove. Sturdy footwear is essential — flip-flops are not suitable for the descent. The cove sits along the route to the Cap de Formentor lighthouse. Bus route 334 serves Cala Figuera by public transport. Roadside parking is limited, and during the summer months vehicle access on the Ma-2210 road is restricted, making the bus or a bicycle the recommended option.

Conditions & Things to Know

Depending on the season and weather, seaweed and debris may be present on the shore. In choppy conditions the water can become stirred up, making snorkelling tricky. Water shoes are a good idea to protect your feet from sharp underwater rocks.
