Description
Celler de sa Premsa is a Spanish restaurant in the heart of Palma, serving traditional Mallorcan cuisine since 1958.
History & Origins
In 1958, Antonio Mayol — a banker by trade — transformed an old warehouse in the centre of Palma into a restaurant. With no formal culinary background, his vision was simple: to create a place where everyone, whether locals or visitors to the island, could enjoy authentic Mallorcan cooking. Today, the third generation of the family carries the restaurant forward in that same original spirit.
Cuisine & Dishes
The menu is rooted in classic Mallorcan home cooking. Frito mallorquín, Tumbet, Lomo con col and snails all feature alongside paella and fresh fish dishes. House-pickled olives and lentils with garlic are among the celebrated specialities. For dessert, expect Crema Catalana, Ensaimada and almond cake. The Menú del Día is a firm favourite with regulars.
Atmosphere
Housed in a former warehouse, the restaurant retains its cellar character with rustic, historic décor throughout. The dining room is generously sized with plenty of tables, though it can get lively and busy at lunchtime.
Location & Getting Here
The restaurant is located at Plaça del Bisbe Berenguer de Palou 8 in the Centre neighbourhood of Palma. Paid parking is available in the surrounding area.
