Description
FORN de Sant Joan is a Mediterranean restaurant serving creative tapas in the heart of Palma, housed in a historic 19th-century bakery.
Creative cooking with a Mediterranean foundation
The kitchen at FORN blends Mallorcan and Spanish influences with contemporary ideas. The menu features tapas, starters, pasta, fish and meat dishes. Firm favourites include the patatas bravas, lobster pasta, tuna tartare cornets, prawn croquettes and a courgette roll starter. The strawberry crème brûlée makes for a sweet and memorable finish. If you'd rather leave the whole menu in the chef's hands, there's a tasting menu to choose from. Vegetarian options are available too.
Location: Palma's old town
The restaurant sits in the Centre quarter at Carrer de Sant Joan 4, 07012 Palma — right in the historic heart of the city. The building originally served as a 19th-century bakery. Joan Baqués opened the restaurant here in 1992, and its current character has been shaped by his two sons, Carlos and Christian Baqués.
Spaces & atmosphere
The restaurant is spread across several levels with a number of smaller rooms, which keeps the noise pleasantly low even when the place is busy. The décor is understated and contemporary. Families with children are very welcome.
Service
Attentive, professional service is a consistently noted hallmark of the experience here. The team is well practised at looking after larger groups as well as smaller parties.
