Parc Natural de la Península de Llevant
Description
The Parc Natural de la Península de Llevant is a protected natural area in the north-east of Mallorca, celebrated as a walking destination with dramatic sea cliffs, pine forests, heathland and a rich variety of wildlife.
Walking Routes for Every Level
A number of numbered routes in varying lengths and difficulty levels set off from the information centre at the car park. If you're after a gentle introduction, Route 3 is a great choice — it winds through woodland before opening up into sunny terrain, rewarding you with a fine viewpoint at the end. More ambitious combinations such as routes 3–5–6 or 3–5–7–2–1 make for satisfying full-day hikes. The paths are well maintained and clearly signposted throughout.
Landscape, Coastline and Wildlife
The routes take you through wonderfully varied terrain: ridge-top panoramas, stretches along the coastline, and descents to coves with turquoise water and sandy shores that are perfectly inviting for a swim when conditions allow. Keep your eyes peeled and you may well spot goats, sheep, donkeys, hedgehogs, stone martens, toads and birds of prey — including vultures and red kites.
Information Point and How to Prepare
Just above the car park there is a well-kept building with an information desk and a visitor toilet. Rangers and staff are on hand with maps and route recommendations. As most of the paths are exposed to full sun and there is no drinking water available along the way, plenty of water and sun protection are absolutely essential — sturdy footwear is equally important. There is a drinks vending machine at the car park.
Location and Getting There
The park entrance is on the Ctra. MA-3333, km 4.7, near Artà. A large, free car park is available on site, and there is also free on-street parking nearby. The car park can fill up quickly at busy times, so arriving early is strongly recommended.
