Platja de Cala Pi
Description
Platja de Cala Pi is a natural beach in Cala Pi on the southern coast of Mallorca — a narrow inlet carved deep into the land, flanked by sheer rock faces and filled with crystal-clear turquoise water.
The Cove
Cala Pi cuts fjord-like into the hillside, with steep rock walls rising on either side. The water is a vivid turquoise and beautifully clear, with a shallow entry that gradually deepens further in. Conditions for snorkelling are excellent — fish, moray eels, octopuses and rays have all been spotted in the water. The beach itself is small, and on busy days it fills up quickly.
Paths & Viewpoints
A long staircase leads down to the beach. On the eastern side of the cove, a path climbs to an old watchtower (torre) offering sweeping views over the inlet, the sea and the rugged south-east coastline. Behind the old boathouses, a further ascent connects to cliff-top walking trails — including one that leads to the neighbouring Cala Beltran. The views from above are widely regarded as one of the highlights of a visit.
Location & Getting There
Platja de Cala Pi is located in Cala Pi (Carrer Torre 14, 07639). Both free and paid car parks are available nearby, along with free on-street parking. On busy days it is well worth arriving early to secure a space. The staircase down to the cove begins right beside the local restaurants in the village. The beach is also accessible by bus.
Nearby Food & Drink
Two eateries sit directly above the cove in the village. From the beach, both are just a short walk up the steps.
