Platja de Sant Elm
Description
Platja de Sant Elm is a sandy beach on the south-west coast of Mallorca, set right in the heart of the small village of Sant Elm.
Beach & Water
The beach is mostly sand with the occasional stone mixed in. The water is clear and calm, making for a relaxed swim. Boats lie at anchor in the bay, and the view across to the island of La Dragonera is a sight that draws visitors back time and again. The rocky edges of the bay are well worth exploring with a snorkel, offering a good glimpse of the underwater life below. In the height of summer — particularly July and August — the beach fills up quickly, with afternoons typically being the busiest time of day.
The Village: Food & Drink
Cafés, bars and restaurants line the seafront and the village centre just behind it. There's also a supermarket close by. Sant Elm itself has the feel of a quiet, unhurried village well away from Mallorca's bigger tourist hubs — with a small pedestrian street and a handful of independent shops to browse.
Getting There
The beach sits on Av. Jaume I in Sant Elm, on the island's south-west tip. There's a paid car park right by the beach; free spaces can be found in the surrounding streets, though you'll need to factor in a short walk. By bus, the TIB 121 service runs directly to Sant Elm.
Evenings & Day Trips
The evening hours — once the crowds have thinned and the setting sun turns the water golden — are particularly special here. In summer, boats depart from Sant Elm to the island of Sa Dragonera, and the village is also a popular starting point for walks through the surrounding countryside.
