Description
Sa Croqueteria is a small tapas restaurant in Palma with a singular focus: the croquette — homemade, with a crisp golden shell and a gloriously creamy centre.
Croquettes as a concept
The menu revolves entirely around the croquette. Fillings range from classic combinations such as sobrasada, bacalà and squid in its ink to more inventive pairings like carrot and sesame, spinach and blue cheese, or prawns with leek. There are even dessert croquettes to finish. Rounding things out are pa amb oli and llonguets — the traditional Mallorcan rolls served with a choice of fillings. If you'd rather leave it to chance, a mixed croquette selection is available. Dipping sauces come as a matter of course and are very much part of the experience, while the team is happy to suggest wines to complement your order.
Seasonal specials
The menu is anything but static. Weekly and monthly special croquettes rotate with the seasons and whatever produce is at its best — recent highlights have included pumpkin and chestnut, and sobrasada with mushrooms, cheese and honey.
Atmosphere
The space is small, warmly decorated and kept lively with a good soundtrack. The vibe is intimate and refreshingly local — the neighbourhood sits well away from the busiest tourist corridors of the old town.
Location & getting here
Sa Croqueteria is located at Carrer de Julià Alvarez 12 (bajos) in the Nord district of Palma. Sitting slightly outside the centre, it attracts a neighbourhood crowd rather than passing tourists. As the restaurant is small and fills up quickly, booking ahead is strongly recommended.
