At Tablao Flamenco Alma there is no distance between you and what is happening — close enough to see the tension in the guitarist's fingers and feel the cantaor's emotion almost physically. Palma's First Tablao Francisco Valero, flamenco guitarist from Posadas (Córdoba) and professor at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música y Danza de les Illes Balears, founded the Alma together with Rocío Arrom with a clear ambition: to bring the tablao experience — alive in Seville, Madrid and Córdoba for generations — to Palma for the first time. Not a stage show for bus groups, but a genuine performance venue with national-level standards. Opened in 2024, it remains the island's only tablao. The Show Each performance lasts roughly an hour — and none of it is scripted. The Alma follows the classic tablao principle: dance, song and guitar responding spontaneously to each other, no fixed script, improvisation as the founding principle. Casts rotate on a fortnightly basis and come from Seville, Madrid, Granada and Barcelona. Names that speak for themselves: El Farru (Antonio Fernández Montoya) spent ten years alongside Paco de Lucía; José Fermín won the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas; Jerónimo Maya has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Teatro Real Madrid; Juan Fernández "Barullo" took home the Premio Nacional de Flamenco de Córdoba. Three performances are staged each evening — the middle slot is listed as the most popular and sells out first. Atmosphere The room is deliberately small and feels more like a private gathering than a ticketed event. Flamenco paintings hang on the walls, turning the space into a small gallery between shows. Sightlines are good from every area; those who want to be closest choose the VIP zone in the front row. One thing to know: the chairs are hard and the rows tightly spaced — this is not comfort-concert seating but an experience that demands attention and gives it back in full.
