DUEL OF VIOLINS Two violins. Two generations. One stage. Duel de violins turns the artistic relationship between Barry and Mayumi Sargent into the guiding thread of a programme that alternates elegance, virtuosity and humour. The sonatas by Leclair and Viotti, the intensity of Halvorsen’s Passacaglia, the miniature by Miquel Àngel Aguiló and the pieces by Aleksey Igudesman offer very different views of the expressive possibilities of the two violins. More than a competition, this “duel” is a musical conversation between father and daughter, built on listening, precision and mutual understanding. This concert is part of the Cicle de Cambra del Migjorn, a travelling project promoted by Illa Músics that brings together music, heritage and local territory. Founded in 2014 under the direction of Barry Sargent, Ensemble Tramuntana promotes chamber-music and orchestral projects. Its activity combines the performance of historical repertoire with contemporary creation and extensive musical outreach across Mallorca. The Església Vella de Ses Salines offers a unique setting for this concert, where the closeness between performers and audience allows every nuance of the dialogue between the two violins to be appreciated.
