The age of innocence. Begoña López, mezzo-soprano; Jesús López, piano

There was a time when tomorrow and yesterday were empty words for everyone. Only today mattered, the here and now: continuing the endless discovery, turning a simple stick into the most magical of wands or swimming through mud to reach an even greater storm. You could be anything you wanted to be: made of silver, of water, a moon dweller, a mermaid or any creature never seen before or yet to be discovered. Everyone was a playmate, however strange their speech sounded, if they could manage to utter a word at all. An explosion of ideas, of leaps into bed, of new, well-oiled machinery longing for summer to arrive so it could fall off a bicycle again and eat watermelon. We evoke that time, precious for our lack of awareness of its passing, to shed light on a period with more shadows than light. Programme Children at play: memories and recollections J.
