Plan Corresponsables funding brings €2.8 million to Balearic Islands
The Spanish Ministry of Equality transferred about €2.8 million to the Balearic Islands, Spain, at the end of July under the Plan Corresponsables 2026. The payment represents 75% of the €3.7 million allocated to the islands for the scheme, the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands said on 17 August.
The outstanding funding is due to be paid from the second week of October. The Balearic Islands are the first autonomous community to receive this year’s transfer.
The payment was reduced by €647,350 in unspent funds from 2025. Funding allocations are agreed by the Sectoral Conference on Equality, with the Spanish Government providing 75% through the national budget and autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla covering the remaining 25%.
Launched in 2021, the Plan Corresponsables aims to build a public care network and help families with children up to 16 balance care responsibilities. Regional and autonomous-city authorities manage the funding, either delivering projects directly or awarding contracts, transfers and grants to local bodies, third-sector organisations, family associations, trade unions and businesses.
Eligible projects include professional care services, work promoting shared care responsibilities and equality, training, technical studies, and monitoring and assessment of the scheme. On 24 August, Government Delegate Alfonso Rodríguez is scheduled to visit a centre where Espiral runs the Obert Vacances programme, which is financed through the plan and offers holiday-period activities and services for children and families.
