Plaza de la Inmaculada renovation completed in Establiments

Palma City Council has completed the €171,000 renovation of Plaza de la Inmaculada in Establiments, Palma, Mallorca. Announced on 17 August, the project upgrades the square’s surfaces, pedestrian access and local infrastructure.

Works covered the square’s paving and pavements beside the cultural centre and parish church, as well as improvements on Madre Alberta and Esporles streets.

Pedestrian access and public space upgrades

A raised pedestrian crossing has been built at the Madre Alberta Street entrance, while a level shared surface has been created to make movement on foot easier across the area.

The steps leading to the cultural centre have been renewed, with new handrails installed. The scheme also created tree pits for new planting and repaired walls between the parish church and cultural centre.

Drainage works under Establiments renewal plan

The electricity line on Madre Alberta Street has been placed underground. Drainage and rainwater infrastructure were also renewed to reduce water build-up.

The square project forms part of the Establiments Plan Renove, under which Palma City Council has invested more than €1.1 million in the neighbourhood so far. The programme includes the renewal of almost 400 public-lighting points, works at the primary school and neighbourhood centre, and pavement and resurfacing improvements on several streets, including Plaza del Rutló.

The council also plans to convert the former neighbourhood library into the future Casa de la Vila de Establiments. The approved €330,000 project includes a full refurbishment of the building and a reorganisation of its interior spaces for new uses.
