Climate in Costa des Pins — Pine Forest and East Coast, on the Hillside
Costa des Pins is an exclusive villa district on a pine-covered hillside above the east coast (Son Servera), overlooking Cala Millor and the open sea. Its elevated position at 91 meters shapes the microclimate: cooler air than on the coastal strip, good overnight cooling, and a natural temperature buffer provided by the pine trees.
Based on proxy data from Son Servera (approx. 3 km away), annual precipitation averages around 587 mm — noticeably above the AEMET Palma reference value of 449 mm. The east coast is exposed to autumn low-pressure systems moving in from the Mediterranean: November is the wettest month at around 104 mm, while July sees only about 8 mm.
Summers on the Costa des Pins hillside are warm, but thanks to the elevation and forested character, more comfortable than on the flat coastal strip. Daily highs in July reach around 29°C, with a daily average of around 25°C. At night, the higher elevation brings cooler air — something long-term residents particularly appreciate.
The nearest beaches, Cala Millor and Cala Bona, are just 1–2 kilometers away. Sea temperatures along the east coast reach around 25°C in July and around 26°C in August. In October the water is still around 23°C — ideal for a late-season swim.
Winters are mild. The daily average in January sits at around 12°C. The combination of a gentle climate and a quiet residential setting makes Costa des Pins an appealing destination even in winter.
More on the east coast: Son Servera Weather and Cala Bona Weather. Sea temperatures can be found at Mallorca Water Temperature.
Note on data sources: Costa des Pins has no weather station of its own. Values are based on proxy data from Son Servera (~3 km, T3-Aggregator). The AEMET B228 record (1981–2010) was used for comparison with Palma.
