Climate in Magaluf — Beach Resort on the Western Side of the Bay

Magaluf sits on the western side of the Bay of Palma, in the municipality of Calvià, at just 5 meters above sea level. The setting is straightforward: a wide sandy beach, unobstructed sea views to the south and west, afternoon sun with no shading. That makes Magaluf a climatically typical beach resort of the Bahia de Palma.

The nearest AEMET climate station is Palma B228 (~15 km to the east), with an annual mean of 18.5°C and annual rainfall of 470 mm (AEMET 1991–2020). T3-Aggregator sources for the Palma zone show around 512 mm. Summers are very dry: July averages only about 9 mm of rain. The wettest month is November at around 79 mm (T3). Autumn precipitation arrives with Atlantic low-pressure systems from the west, which Calvià — thanks to its westward exposure — tends to catch somewhat earlier than the eastern side of the bay.

Summer warmth is pronounced and reliable. July daytime highs sit at around 31°C, with a daily mean of around 26°C. The western side of the bay has a microclimatic quirk: the Embat sea breeze, which sweeps across the bay from the northeast in the afternoon, reaches Magaluf with less force than it does Can Pastilla on the opposite shore. That means less natural cooling on midsummer afternoons — but also calmer water along the beach.

Water temperatures in the Bay of Palma are inviting: around 26°C in July and around 27°C in August according to T3-Aggregator values. Even in October the water remains pleasant at around 23°C. The wide sandy beach of Magaluf (Platja de Magaluf) is one of the broader stretches of beach on the western bay.

Winters are mild: the January daily mean is around 11°C. Frost near the coast is virtually out of the question. Magaluf is noticeably quieter in winter than during the season.

Note on data sources: Magaluf has no dedicated AEMET station. All values refer to AEMET B228 Palma and T3-Aggregator sources.
