Platja de Cala Barques
Description
Platja de Cala Barques is a sheltered sea cove in Cala Sant Vicenç, in the north of Mallorca within the municipality of Pollença.
Turquoise water and a rocky backdrop
Cala Barques impresses with crystal-clear, turquoise water and a rocky setting that gives the cove its distinctive character. The seabed is predominantly stony — water shoes are well worth wearing when wading in. On one side of the cove there is a shallower pool that makes it easier for young children to get into the water. The cove is well sheltered and the water is generally calm.
Snorkelling and underwater life
If you fancy snorkelling, this is a great spot for it. The clear water offers excellent visibility of fish and other marine life close to the shore, and the shallow, sheltered cove makes snorkelling comfortably accessible even for less confident swimmers.
Location and getting there
Platja de Cala Barques is located on Carrer Cala Barques 5 in Cala Sant Vicenç, a village within the municipality of Pollença in the north of Mallorca. Free on-street parking is available on the road above the beach, though finding a space can be trickier during the summer months. Several bars and restaurants are close by.
Beach facilities and how busy it gets
Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire on site. In high summer the small cove fills up quickly, so if you prefer a quieter visit you'll have the advantage outside the main season — during the shoulder season you can sometimes have the beach largely to yourself.
