You can reach the area around De Ferragut via the Ma-3331 to Betlem. The Ma-3331 runs from Colònia de Sant Pere along the coast to the settlement of Betlem.

You should navigate carefully within Betlem. Several paths and access routes lead towards the sea from the main road running near the coast. They do not all end at the same section of beach. If your navigation only displays “Playa de Betlem”, it may direct you to a smaller, rocky cove. The full beach name is therefore a better guide for finding De Ferragut.

There is no clearly documented road access directly to the sand or clearly designated beach car park for De Ferragut. You should therefore allow for a walk from where you leave your vehicle to the beach and not arrive expecting to park directly beside the sand.

For the final few metres, closed shoes with a good grip are more practical than simple beach sandals. Coastal paths and access routes around Betlem are sometimes described as stony. This description does not automatically apply to the sandy area of De Ferragut, but it is a useful point to bear in mind for the route through the local coastal landscape.

Where can you park near De Ferragut?

Parking is limited in Betlem, especially within the settlement. In Urbanització Betlem, visitors are advised to leave their car near the entrance to the settlement where possible, rather than relying on finding a free space directly by the coast.

A small car park is located before Betlem on the Ma-3331. It also serves as a starting point for routes into the mountains and to Ermita de Betlem. Whether this is the most practical choice for your particular route to the beach depends on the access route you select. There is no dedicated car park clearly assigned to De Ferragut.

If you visit during the busy season, you should allow extra time to find parking and walk to the beach afterwards. Leave your vehicle only in clearly permitted areas and keep access routes and narrow roads clear. Particularly in a sparsely developed settlement, apparently vacant roadside areas may belong to private properties or be required for access.

Caution: The beach’s high seasonal occupancy coincides with limited parking in Betlem. Do not rely on finding a parking space directly beside the sea without advance planning.

What are the sand, water and swimming like at De Ferragut?

De Ferragut is a sandy beach; detailed information about water depth, waves and the condition of the seabed has not been specified for this beach. The reliably established feature is therefore its sandy area, which is 450 metres long and 22 metres wide, rather than a particular swimming profile.

Choose something that can be secured safely without damaging the protected surroundings. A beach mat is also practical for a longer stay, even though De Ferragut is specifically classified as a sandy beach.

What is near De Ferragut?

Nearby are the settlement of Betlem, the coastal road to Colònia de Sant Pere and the mountain landscape surrounding Ermita de Betlem. A beach visit can therefore be combined with a look at this more quietly developed coastal region or with a separate hike.

Colònia de Sant Pere lies about three kilometres by road west of Betlem. The Ma-3331 runs along the coast between the two places. Betlem itself has various access points to the sea, but they do not all lead to the sandy beach of De Ferragut. If you explore other coves, you should therefore expect the shoreline to differ from that of the classified sandy beach.

Ermita de Betlem lies above the settlement in the mountains of Artà. One route begins at a small car park on the Ma-3331 before Betlem and follows part of the GR-222. The total estimated walking time to the hermitage is around two hours. This hike is a separate undertaking, not a short walk between the car park and the beach.

If you want to combine the beach and the hike in one day, bring enough water and plan the two activities separately. The kiosk at De Ferragut is not a reliable supply point for a longer excursion as long as its opening hours remain uncertain.

What should you consider before visiting?

For De Ferragut, you should plan navigation, parking and self-sufficiency more carefully than you would for a beach with a clearly designated large car park and extensive infrastructure.
