17-metre fall in Eivissa leaves man with spinal fracture

A 27-year-old US man remains in hospital after falling 17 metres in the Sa Figuera Borda area of Eivissa, Ibiza, on Sunday.
He has a broken spinal bone, diagnosed as a thoracic vertebra fracture, and is being monitored by the hospital’s neurosurgery unit, the centre said on Tuesday.
Doctors from the 061 advanced life-support ambulance assessed him before firefighters joined a land rescue. He was then taken to hospital in a serious condition.
