Air Europa resumes direct Caracas flights

Air Europa has resumed direct flights to and from Caracas, Venezuela, on Tuesday, 1 September, restoring five weekly services after June’s earthquakes disrupted its operation. Flights now use Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, Caracas, on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For the past two months, the airline used Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia instead while refurbishment work at Simón Bolívar was completed. The return to Caracas ends that special operation.

Air Europa says it is the first Spanish airline to resume the Caracas route. Iberia is due to follow on Thursday with three weekly flights, on Monday, Thursday and Sunday. American Airlines also plans to restart direct Miami-Caracas services on Thursday.

Plus Ultra is set to return to Caracas on Tuesday, 8 September, with one weekly flight. Its other services will continue through Valencia until the capital’s airport can return fully to normal operations. Copa Airlines restarted its Caracas links last week and says it now has 29 weekly frequencies between Panama and Venezuela.
