Mallorca: Alaró hall works leave players changing on court

On Mallorca, some players in Alaró have had to change on the court while their municipal sports hall is renovated, the Socialist Party (PSIB) says. On 16 October, the party is demanding that Alaró town hall explain how the work is progressing, when it will finish and what it will cost.

Teams move to another hall

The changing rooms available during the work have not been enough for the teams, according to the PSIB. Showers and storage space for sports equipment have also been affected. Volleyball and futsal teams have had to adapt, and some have started their leagues using a second hall because they cannot use their usual one normally.

The PSIB says the renovation is needed, including improvements to the floor and changing rooms. But it says clubs and families still need to know when the hall will be fully available again.

Cost and finish date remain unclear

The party says a document shows the contractor, Bonfill Ingeniería, Arquitectura y Paisaje, may have accepted a budget increase of almost €95,000. That would put the contract at around €594,000, it says; the work was originally awarded for just over €479,000.

According to the PSIB, the contractor has also requested 23 November as a new contractual completion date. The party wants the town hall to confirm the timetable and final cost.
