Collision with parked cars

At about 00.50 on Saturday, a car struck two vehicles parked on the left-hand side of Mare de Déu de la Victòria Street. Officers found the 32-year-old asleep at the wheel; she said she had consumed a large amount of alcohol while celebrating her birthday.

Her breath test produced a reading of 1.15 mg/l. Police said the result was nearly five times the administrative limit and well above the criminal threshold.

Second crash in Son Castelló

The other collision happened at about 02.45 on Sunday on Gremi de Sabaters Street in the Son Castelló industrial estate. The 44-year-old driver lost control on a straight section, veered to the right and hit a parked vehicle.

Officers found that she appeared clearly intoxicated and recorded a breath-alcohol reading of 1.03 mg/l. Palma Local Police's Accident Vehicle Unit concluded that alcohol-related impairment had caused both crashes.

Both women declined a confirmatory test at a health centre, and municipal recovery vehicles removed their cars. Case files alleging an offence against road safety were sent to the duty investigating section of the Court of First Instance.
