In Palma, Mallorca, two days of debate end on Saturday, 17 October, with organisers wanting to keep the city’s antifascist weekend going. The fourth edition brings talks and a workshop to La Col·lectiva, focused on the far right in Europe and how to challenge it. MÉS per Palma, MÉS per Mallorca, the Coppieters Foundation and the Darder-Mascaró foundations organised the event, according to MÉS per Palma.

On Friday, speakers from different parts of Europe shared their experiences and discussed how to build a joint political and social response to reactionary views. Saturday began with a workshop on antifascism on social media, led by WOKE UP members Ángela Vázquez and Sara Riveiro. Lawyer Aurora Jhardi and philosopher Eudald Espluga then discussed alternatives for a democratic future.

The organisers called the weekend a success and said they want the initiative to continue. David Pujol, MÉS per Palma’s candidate for mayor, said the fight against the far right goes beyond political parties. He wants Palma to set an example and said people must not be singled out for their origin, language or identity.
