Palma women stop attempted abduction of girl
A group of women stopped two men from forcing a girl into a van in Palma at about 23.00 on 8 August. The girl was walking to a relative’s home when the men grabbed her hands and feet beside the parked vehicle. National Police later arrested one man.
The van’s rear doors had been left open, police said. When the women stepped in to help, one man ran away on foot while the other drove off in the van.
The girl told officers she clearly recognised one of the men and that he was subject to a restraining order barring him from approaching her. She said he had harassed her for years and, during the attack, told her she would be his alone.
Officers from the National Police’s Family and Women’s Unit traced the suspect after making enquiries. He was arrested on suspicion of unlawful detention and breaching the restraining order.
