Man smashes his own car with axe in Ciutadella

A 29-year-old man smashes his own car with an axe in a street in Ciutadella on Menorca on Thursday, prompting two police patrols to attend after a neighbour raises the alarm.
The man is still striking the vehicle when officers arrive. He tells them the car is due to be scrapped and that this is why he is attacking it with the axe.
Ciutadella Local Police issue him with an infringement notice for putting public safety at risk. Officers seize the axe and take it to the police station.
