Mallorca: 40-year-old held over axe and knife threat

A 40-year-old Spanish man has been arrested after allegedly threatening his flatmate with a large knife and an axe at a home in Lloseta, Mallorca, on Friday afternoon. Guardia Civil patrols from Inca and Lloseta Local Police went to the address after reports of a violent row. Officers say the man was highly agitated and tried to lunge at the woman while insulting her and making death threats.

The Guardia Civil says he had begun hitting furniture in the home. After his two flatmates challenged him, he allegedly took a large knife from the kitchen and threatened the woman.

Police say the man then fell to the floor because he was drunk. He allegedly went back into the kitchen, picked up an axe and waved it. The other flatmate disarmed and restrained him before officers took him into custody.

The knife and axe were seized. He has been handed over to the judicial authorities on suspicion of making serious threats with a bladed weapon.
