Balearic comics get first Frankfurt Book Fair trade slot

Balearic comics get their own display at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, from 7 to 11 November: the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics is joining the fair’s comics trade section for the first time.

The institute will also share a stand with the Institut Ramon Llull. Its staff, Cristina Gaviño and Karen Müller, will present catalogues of new Balearic literature, illustrated children’s books and comics to publishers from countries including Germany, the UK, Italy and Switzerland. Meetings are also planned with publishers from the Czech Republic, this edition’s guest of honour.

Gaviño and Müller will explain the grants available to foreign publishers interested in works by Balearic authors and illustrators. At the Comics Business Centre, a section for comic publishers, the institute will show its latest Balearic comics and meet publishers from Germany, Italy, Belgium, Chile and Mexico.
