Balearic Islands income: 31 municipalities in top band
The Balearic Islands have 31 municipalities in the high annual net income per person band for 2024, but their share has fallen to 46.3%. Figures released on Monday, 19 October, by Spain’s National Statistics Institute put the islands third among Spanish regions for the proportion of municipalities in that band. Only the Basque Country, at 89.7%, and Navarre, at 71.3%, rank higher.
The high-income share is down three percentage points from 2023. Another 31 municipalities are in the upper-middle income band, whose share has risen three points to 46.3% — the highest proportion of any Spanish region. Five municipalities are in the lower-middle band, and none are in the low-income band.
Average annual net income per person across the islands rose 6.4% to 17,158 euros in 2024, from 16,118 euros the year before.
