Balearics’ British consul honoured alongside Lineker
Mallorca’s British consul general is honoured in London: Lloyd Milen receives an award for his commitment to the Balearic Islands and tourism, and for strengthening ties between Spain and the UK. The award was presented on Tuesday evening at the Spanish ambassador’s residence, where former FC Barcelona footballer and sports presenter Gary Lineker was also recognised.
Milen’s responsibilities extend beyond the Balearics to Catalonia, Aragón, the Valencia region and Andorra. He was among nine people and businesses named “Friends of Spanish Brands” for helping Spanish firms in the UK. His award was linked to Meliá Hotels International.
Lineker received a separate “Friend of Brand Spain” award for bringing Spanish football and culture to British audiences. Hay Festival was recognised in the same category for its contribution to cultural exchange between the two countries.
The awards were organised by the Forum of Renowned Spanish Brands and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom. More than 100 guests attended the ceremony.
