Balearics help calls jump 40% before suicide prevention day

Requests for help to the Teléfono de la Esperanza support line in the Balearics rose by 40% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year. The organisation will present its report next Wednesday, for International Suicide Prevention Day. Its president, María Antonia Mateu, and spokesperson, Lino Salas, will also unveil a campaign to prevent suicidal behaviour.
