Mallorca beach fees: €4.6m at stake in payment row
On Mallorca, a row over the beaches at Magaluf and Santa Ponça centres on €4.6 million in fees for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. On 16 October 2026, Adopuma, an association of businesses running temporary beach services, says the former operator has not paid the fees for either beach. The association says Calvià council has told it that no payment has come in.
Calvià opens proceedings over the fees
Adopuma puts the starting annual fee at €1.2 million for Magaluf and €1.1 million for Santa Ponça. That makes €2.3 million a season, or €4.6 million across the two seasons. According to the association, Calvià council says the fees have been reviewed, the former operator has appealed them and the council has opened administrative proceedings over the alleged non-payment.
The beach services have since been awarded to a new operator. Adopuma welcomes the change but says it does not settle the money dispute. It wants to know the exact amount still owed and what steps will be taken to recover it.
Claims reach other Mallorca beaches
Adopuma also alleges that more than €1 million went unpaid in Son Servera, Mallorca, between 2022 and 2025. It claims a further sum of more than €1 million is owed in Ses Salines, Mallorca. The association says the businesses involved are managed by the same person.
It is calling on coastal councils to check operators’ ability to pay, monitor payments while beach-service permits are in force and act promptly when payments are missed. It says that would help prevent unpaid fees from building up over several seasons.
