Mallorca beach theft: workers catch 18-year-old

Two workers chased and held an 18-year-old after a woman’s bag and mobile phone were allegedly stolen at Barcarés beach in Alcúdia, Mallorca. The woman called for help and the workers, who were nearby, set off after the suspected thief. Alcúdia Local Police later arrested the young man.

Bicycle left behind during chase

Police said the 18-year-old had allegedly stolen a bicycle from inside a home before the beach theft. He used it to flee after taking the bag.

He then abandoned the bicycle and continued on foot. The two workers caught up with him and held him until officers arrived.

Bag, phone and bicycle recovered

Police recovered the woman’s bag and mobile phone, as well as the bicycle. Officers also prepared the police report.

After their initial inquiries, Alcúdia Local Police handed the 18-year-old to the Guardia Civil. He is then due to be brought before the Investigating Court in Inca.
