Mallorca boat bus: Magaluf link sparks party tourism row

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

On Mallorca, a possible boat bus link from Magaluf to Palma sparks a warning: MÉS per Palma says it could bring party tourism into the capital’s streets. On 7 October 2026, the party criticised the prospect of the Balearic Islands Port Authority extending its Bus Náutico project to Magaluf, Palmanova or s’Arenal. Its mayoral candidate, David Pujol, says a direct Magaluf route could add to noise and problems in Palma’s neighbourhoods.

No Magaluf link has been confirmed. Pujol wants those behind the project to explain what a direct connection would mean for the city’s streets and the people who live there.

MÉS has criticised the boat bus before. It says the project’s early phases put tourist and cruise passenger journeys first, including connections towards Portitxol and Molinar. Pujol argues that the latest possible destinations strengthen his concern: the service appears more focused on moving tourists than making everyday travel easier for people in Palma.
