Boat rescue off Cala Comte: four people saved

Four people were rescued from a sinking boat off Cala Comte, in Sant Josep de sa Talaia on Ibiza, on 22 August. Spain’s Maritime Rescue Service brought the four crew members to the nearest port after the vessel began taking on water.

The occupants alerted rescuers after their boat struck rocks. The Guardamar Calíope and beach lifeguards were sent to the scene, while a nearby excursion boat was given the vessel’s position and asked to assist if required.

The excursion boat later reported that the damaged vessel had sunk at the stern. Three small boats had already helped the four people, who were safe before Maritime Rescue Service personnel transferred them to port.
