Mallorca: Five arrested after Palma bottle attack

Palma, Mallorca: Two young men need stitches after attackers punch and kick them on Avenida Gabriel Roca early on Saturday. One suffers deep, bleeding cuts when a glass bottle breaks against his head and face. The National Police arrest five men after the attack and the theft of a mobile phone.

Sexist remarks lead to violence

Police say a group of about eight people made sexist remarks to two women in the street. Several people with the women stepped in peacefully. The attackers responded with punches to their faces and heads, then continued to kick and punch them. Amid the violence, someone stole a high-end phone from one of the victims.

Witness videos help police find suspects

A member of the public alerted officers patrolling nearby. They found two young men lying in the road with serious injuries and called for medical help. Both needed stitches to head wounds and were taken by ambulance to hospital, where doctors were to check for further fractures.

Descriptions and videos from witnesses helped police search the area and find five suspected attackers. Officers arrested them on suspicion of causing injury and robbery with violence.
