Mallorca: 2027 Balearic budget seeks approval

Mallorca’s regional government is drawing up its 2027 budget in Palma on 28 August, but spokesman Antoni Costa says approval will not depend on the government alone. The Balearic Islands Government is preparing both its spending cap and the first draft of next year’s accounts. Costa says the work is proceeding normally and that the government intends to get the budget through.

Speaking after the Consell de Govern meeting, Costa said he would try to secure approval for the regional accounts. He argued that having a budget agreed on time and in the proper way benefits people across the Balearic Islands.

Costa is also the minister for Economy, Finance and Innovation. He offered no guarantee, saying he hoped the government could succeed but that the result would not rest solely with it.

The coming political year will be the last before the 2027 elections. Costa said the government would continue to follow the course set out in the PP’s governing programme.
