Spain’s National Police say the owner of the campervan where the fire began allegedly attacked the suspect’s partner. While receiving medical care, she called him to tell him what had happened. Investigators say the dispute may have prompted the fire. The two women had reportedly been involved in similar incidents before.

The fire started at a butane cylinder and spread to two more campervans. People in two vehicles at the edges of the car park escaped and prevented the flames from reaching their campervans, though one was damaged by the heat. Palma firefighters put out the blaze. The city council has ordered the immediate removal of butane cylinders and other flammable materials from the outdoor area.
