Mallorca's Can López festival brings foam and paella

Foam, pool swimming and paella are on Sunday’s bill as the Can López neighbourhood festival returns in Inca, Mallorca, this weekend. Saturday begins at 19.00 with a street parade and drums from Renou d’Inca. Inca Town Hall has announced activities for children, older people and families across the two days.

Saturday drums and open-air dinner

The Grup Somriu will run a mask-painting workshop for children half an hour after the parade begins. A tribute to older people follows at 20.30, before a Rhythm Nation display.

The evening’s open-air dinner, known locally as a sopar a la fresca, starts at 21.30 and tables must be booked. Tom Trovador will provide the music.

Sunday water party and pool

The children’s water party and foam party run from 10.00 to 13.00 at the Mateu Cañellas Sports Centre. Paella and swimming in the pool are available from 13.00.

A voucher is needed for the paella and pool, available from the pool bar or the Can López Association. Mayor Virgilio Moreno said the programme aims to strengthen neighbourhood life, encourage neighbours to get together and bring life to the town during summer.
