Can Pastilla, Mallorca: a man admits killing his ex-partner in a car while their baby sat in the back seat. Prosecutors say he stabbed her up to 66 times on a road there in December 2024. At his jury trial in Palma on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, he says she pulled the knife first and denies murder.

Who had the knife?

The man says he took the knife from the woman during an argument and then lost control. He apologised to her family, saying he had left his daughters without a mother. His lawyer accepts that he killed her but argues the offence was homicide, not murder.

Prosecutors reject his account. They say he brought the knife concealed in his clothing and attacked her without warning inside the confined car. The lawyer for the woman’s family also disputes the claim that she drew the knife first.

Jury to consider its verdict

The man faces 27 years in prison. After closing arguments on Wednesday, the jury is due to receive the questions it must decide on Thursday before retiring to deliberate.
