Firefighters from the Mallorca Fire Service extinguished the blaze after several hours and carried out their final inspection at about 21.00 on Monday. Residents were subsequently allowed inside to collect personal belongings and documents, but cannot return to their homes until at least Tuesday afternoon, after a minimum 24-hour wait for smoke and gases to clear.

The Santa Margalida Town Council will determine whether the building can be occupied again. Municipal technicians are expected to assess the structure for possible fire damage.

A firefighter was taken to Hospital de Muro after suffering an electric shock while handling an installation affected by the fire. He was discharged following medical checks. Another person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and also discharged.
