Cap Blanc path closure criticised in Sant Joan, Ibiza

PSOE representatives at Sant Joan Town Hall in Ibiza have criticised the closure of the Cap Blanc path, which links to the coast and is blocked by a chain. The party raised the issue in a statement issued in Ibiza on 24 August.

The group said the closure was particularly concerning because the route runs through a cliff area with a high risk of accidents. It said any traffic restrictions should be based on safety and technical grounds, without hindering emergency services.

Socialist spokesperson Pep Torres called for any controls on the path to be coordinated with emergency responders, arguing that the coastal area must retain suitable access in the event of an accident. PSOE also asked the authorities to establish the path's ownership status and reopen it if it is confirmed as public, saying private interests should not override public access or emergency access.
