Capdepera land auction to fund cancer programmes
On 24 August, the Spanish Association Against Cancer put a rural plot in Capdepera, Mallorca, up for public auction through the specialist platform Escrapalia. It is one of 12 lots across Spain whose proceeds will support the organisation’s social and scientific programmes.
The lots cover a combined 109,150 square metres of agricultural, forestry and grazing land in 10 locations across eight Spanish provinces. The other properties are in Castellón de la Plana, Vilafamés, Lantadilla, Torrijo del Campo, Fuentes Claras, Valle de Hecho, Fuente de Cantos, Moañan and O Grove.
The combined opening price is €18,300, while individual lots accept bids from €194 to €5,378. Escrapalia said the starting prices are more than 70% below the official valuation.
The land was left to the Spanish Association Against Cancer as part of its inherited assets. The association said the sale will help finance cancer research, support services and prevention work.
Closing dates vary by lot, with auctions ending on 9, 15 or 16 September. Individuals, companies and investors may take part after registering free of charge with Escrapalia, although a lot-specific security deposit is required and is returned in full to unsuccessful bidders.
