In Palma, Mallorca, a vehicle fire at the Son Hugo car park prompts an immediate order to remove butane gas bottles and other flammable material from outside caravans. The fire started shortly before 13.00 on Wednesday and was out about an hour later. Palma City Council gives the caravan occupants 48 hours to clear any other items left outside.

Palma’s firefighters, local police and the National Police attended the fire. Municipal social services offered help to everyone affected. Four people asked for accommodation and received it.

The council says a committee meets weekly to coordinate its work with people sleeping rough and camps across the city.
