Mallorca: 1,700 homes planned in Palma, half protected
On Mallorca, Palma plans 1,700 new homes in Cas Pastors, half with some form of protected status. Palma City Council’s governing board agreed on Wednesday, 14 October, to change the rules and operating framework for the body overseeing the project. Council spokesperson Mercedes Celeste said the rules date back to 2005 and need to be brought into line with current planning law.
Cas Pastors is one of eight planned housing projects in Palma. Together, they provide for 16,636 new homes, more than 8,800 with some form of protected status, Celeste said. The other projects include Can Fontet, with 9,215 homes planned, and Son Güells, with 3,097.
