Former tourism minister Celestí Alomar died on Monday. Lluís Apesteguia, coordinator of MÉS per Mallorca, paid tribute to him in a social-media message, calling him one of the “great men of our homeland”.
Apesteguia said Alomar was the first left-wing tourism minister and praised his “unshakeable loyalty”.
He said the introduction of the ecotax brought an open war with hoteliers. But, Apesteguia added, Alomar’s loyalty “was always to the country”.
