Mallorca’s €150,000 fund backs four village centenaries
Four Mallorca villages can seek a share of €150,000 for events marking 100 years since their municipal independence or founding. Consell, Lloret de Vistalegre, Mancor de la Vall and ses Salines are eligible. The Consell de Mallorca unveiled the funding call in Palma on 28 August.
The money can cover celebrations already held or still to be staged by places whose centenary falls in 2024, 2025 or 2026. Each town hall can request up to €37,500 for its project.
Rafel Bosch, the island councillor for Finance, Innovation and Public Service, said the scheme honours a decision made a century ago to move forward with local self-government.
The Consell says the funding is intended to strengthen each municipality’s history and sense of belonging, bring generations together at events and give greater value to historic heritage. It also wants people across Mallorca to know the dates when the four municipalities gained independence or were founded.
