Ceuta protests: Vox targets Spain’s government
Vox leader Santiago Abascal is due at a Ceuta support protest in Madrid on Wednesday, 2 September. The party says Popular Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo also plans to attend. Vox will use the gathering to attack Spain’s government and Morocco over the situation in Ceuta.
The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, known by its Spanish initials FEMP, called the demonstrations in support of Ceuta. In Congress, Vox spokesperson Pepa Millán urged people to join them, saying Ceuta “does not surrender”.
Millán rejected calls from the Popular Party and Ceuta’s president, Juan Jesús Vivas, to keep the protests non-partisan and avoid targeting anyone. Vox says the demonstrations should support people in Ceuta while also naming those it holds responsible.
She accused the Popular Party of being too hesitant and called on Vivas to end his agreements with the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, PSOE, and Muslim parties in Ceuta.
