The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces has called the protests. Prohens, who leads the Balearic Government and the PP in the Balearics, says she will defend Spain’s territorial integrity and its borders, show support for Ceuta and call for an immediate return to normality.

Her decision follows a message from Ceuta president Juan Jesús Vivas, who described the mass entry of migrants on 31 July as an unprecedented affront. Vivas says Wednesday’s rally is not about party politics or ideology, but about showing unity behind a city whose territorial integrity has been attacked.

Prohens answered: “Count on it.”
