The Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias, Spain’s federation of municipalities and provinces, called the protests across the country for Día de Ceuta. In a post on X, Prohens urged people to take to the streets in defence of Spain’s territorial integrity and borders, and to demand an immediate return to normality.

Martínez has said events in Ceuta concern everyone and should serve as a warning for the Balearics. He will receive Prohens on her arrival alongside Palma City Council members.

The rally has drawn criticism from parties on the left. The PSIB will not take part, saying the PP is using institutions for party-political purposes.

Socialist mayoral candidate Iago Negueruela also attacked what he called the political use of Plaza de Cort. Podemos councillor Lucía Muñoz accused Martínez of applying a double standard, noting that the council recently rejected one of Brunzzit’s sopars a la fresca events there because the square already hosted many events.
