Mallorca: mother arrested over child left alone overnight

Palma, Mallorca: A young boy is allegedly left alone overnight while his mother is away, returning home the next day. Spain’s National Police arrested the woman last week on suspicion of child abandonment, the force said on Tuesday, 13 October.
A relative reported that the mother often failed to meet the boy’s basic needs, leaving him unattended for long periods and sometimes without food for many hours. The relative also alleged that she let him bathe without supervision and regularly insulted him.
Officers found poor hygiene and a build-up of rubbish at the home in central Palma. The woman was arrested on suspicion of child abandonment.
